I offer a holistic approach to childbirth education that may be very different than many other approaches. My style is individualized to every client, meeting them where they are at in their experience of pregnancy and the postpartum period. This time for an individuals and parents can bring up a variety of emotions. My hope is to help guide parents in exploring the many ways of coping during birth in a safe and inclusive space.
Birthing from Within Childbirth Classes center around the philosophy that birth is a rite of passage and acknowledges it as a heroic journey. The uncertainty of birth can often bring a variety of complex emotions and questions of how to navigate it’s many unknowns. A cornerstone of Birthing from Within classes is a focus and preparation for the unknown and unexpected, using tools of experiential learning through birth art and storytelling that help prevent trauma. Expectant parents will also learn and gain a basic understanding of the labor process, stages of labor, learn ways to cope with pain, explore ways to connect with their partners and learn strategies for navigating the postpartum period.

Birth Story Listening® also referred to as Birth Story Medicine® created by Pam England, offers a unique way to help an individual process and reframe a difficult moment related to a birth experience. This guided process acknowledges how a particular moment is showing up for an individual and how it’s affecting what they ‘re doing or not doing? A session can often spark a change in perspective and help shift the relationship that someone has with a complex moment associated with birth.

“Birth is an opportunity to transcend. To rise above what we are accustomed to, reach deeper inside ourselves than we are familiar with, and to see not only what we are truly made of, but the strength we can access in and through birth.” – Marcie Macari
I was originally trained through DONA as a doula in 2005. My calling to this work was inspired by supporting individuals in my family. While supporting family members during their births I felt there was an absolute need in supporting birthing individuals in a variety of birth setting. Although I am not a parent myself I believe in my ability to offer deep compassion and non-judgmental support. I bring my own unique calm sensibility to every birth I attend. I am currently the childbirth educator at North Houston Birth Center.

For individuals wanting to encapsulate their placenta, I offer individuals birthing in either hospital or out hospital setting, services of encapsulation as well as help in guiding them through processing it on their own if they prefer. I guide individuals in understanding the potential benefits of placenta encapsulation along with being available to answer common questions and concerns. For many individuals, placenta encapsulation can help in a quicker recovery and potentially lower the risk of having postpartum depression along with a host of other positive effects.

I am grateful for the opportunity to support and mentor many individuals and parents through their births and their preparations for birth. My biggest goal when supporting an individual is to meet them where they are and support them without judgement and offer them compassion through their experience. |
